Energy Bills Relief Scheme

26th September 2023

The Government provided temporary support to Non-Domestic energy users to help with the rising cost of energy.   Business Power and Gas Limited (BPG) engaged with the Government as part of the initiative, which was named the Energy Bills Relief Scheme (EBRS).

The EBRS scheme applied to the following:

  • Fixed contracts agreed on or after 1 December 2021
  • Deemed contract customers
  • Flexible contracts where the weighted average purchase price exceeds the EBRS Supported Wholesale Price.
  • Customers with related financial instruments in place to manage risks outside of physical hedges (e.g. CPPAs, financial derivatives).   The actual process of accessing this support will be confirmed by the Government in due course.

The scheme applied to energy usage from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023, and ran for a six-month period for all non-domestic energy users. The discount were automatically applied to bills by BPG where applicable.
